Overview
Estancia Cerro Guido houses a sample of Patagonia’s rich biodiversity. Birds of prey, such as the condor, kestrel and the tucúquere standout, as well as the three species of felines present in Patagonia: the Colocolo cat, Geoffroy’s cat and the Puma roam the various environments that we can find on the ranch. Along with them, armadillos, guanacos, caiquenes, skunks, woodpeckers and wetland birds have also made Guido their home. By conserving and protecting its ecosystems, the ranch is helping to maintain its balance and the biodiversity that accompanies it. Experience the conservation work of the estancia while exploring intimate landscapes and an interesting history of the estancia’s history and continuing importance to Southern Patagonia.

Itinerary
Day 1
Private Transfer – Full Day Wildlife Conservation Excursion
- 2 Hour Private Transfer
- 6 Hour Estancia & Wildlife Conservation Excursion
- 2 Hour Private Transfer (L)
In the morning, a private transfer will pick you up at 7:00 AM from your hotel or accommodation in Puerto Natales. As we make our way 2 hours along the paved road following the coast of Puerto Natales through the small town of Cerro Castillo, and onward to Estancia Cerro Guido. Born as part of the Tierra del Fuego Exploitation Society, Estancia Cerro Guido is still the largest estancia today in the region with one of the largest livestock and extensions of crops in the area and the history of Chilean Patagonia. The estancia still conserves and uses the houses and facilities built from its origin, rescuing this cultural heritage of great value.
Upon our arrival, we will be welcomed by our host who will help us understand the history of the estancia and the conservation area of the Cerro Guido Foundation project and a sector of the Cerro Guido Territory.
We will tour the territory under conservation, seeing camera traps, talking with the trackers who work daily, and discover the terrain which consists of the project that seeks the natural and patrimonial conservation of the territory. On this route which is along old cattle trails, it has a unique view of the Paine Massif where we can see typical Patagonian fauna (rhea, guanaco, foxes, a variety of birds, armadillos, etc.) as well as animals related to livestock activity.
We’ll depart through the sector of Segunda Barranca and Condoreras (natural condor colonies) and later indulge in the history and heritage of the estancia beginning with a history talk at the administration house, a tour of the orchard, the Casona (heritage home), and a walk through the Cerro Guido Village where the group will enter the shearing shed to learn about its history, see a sheep shearing demonstration and the work of the gauchos (cowboys) with the working dogs.
We’ll meet for a freshly prepared menu lunch in the hotel’s restaurant before continuing on our conservation journey.
Once we’ve completed our excursion, our private vehicle will take us back to our hotel or accommodation.
