INFORMACION GENERAL
Tierra del Fuego’s King penguin colony is the only one outside the Sub-Antarctic islands – making it a far easier option for photographers and nature lovers to visit. These quirky little fellows are remarkably relaxed around humans and provide endless entertainment as they sway, waddle and preen their way around the rookery.

Itinerario
Día 1
Transfer to Dock – Ferry Crossing – Porvenir Museum Tour – Visit to National King Penguin Reserve
You’ll be picked up from your Punta Arenas hotel between 7:30AM and 8:00AM and driven to the local port where we’ll take a ferry to Porvenir, crossing the Strait of Magellan.
Before making your way to the King penguin colony you’ll tour Porvenir’s museum – learning about the region, it´s native inhabitants, and the pioneers & settlers who moved to the region.
We´ll always pass by the lookout and esplanade. Once at the Penguin colony, prepare to be enchanted! These affable little creatures are a delight, seemingly dressed up as if heading to an important function.
We will keep a fair distance admiring the penguins from behind the infrastructure, careful not to disturb them or their environment.
After a while, the penguins tend to forget about the visitors (or they might simply not care about our presence) and usually come closer on their own – sometimes as close as 20 meters, sometimes a bit closer, but again: we’ll let them decide! This respectful, close proximity between visitor and penguin gives amateur and professional wildlife photographers a fantastic chance to practice their craft.
Later, we’ll pass through the village of Cerro Sombrero, where we’ll take the ferry back to the mainland, followed by a transfer back to your hotel, arriving around 8:30PM.
