Rincón Bonito is a remote field in the Ventisquero Valley, within the Puelo River basin in Cochamó, located in the extreme northern region of Chilean Patagonia.

This program not only invites you to discover some of the most breathtaking landscapes in southern Chile, it also calls for readiness and resilience for a dynamic and demanding adventure. From horseback riding among towering mountains to paddling a packraft down the Puelo River, the physical challenges are constant and diverse. This journey requires determination and solid physical fitness: it is an intense, rewarding, and deeply transformative experience.
Day 1 - Flying over National Parks: Welcome to Rincón Bonito
At 9:00 a.m., a private transfer will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Varas. One hour later, you’ll arrive at the hangar of Paloma Airfield, where our experienced pilot will take us on a private charter flight to Rincón Bonito.
During the flight, we’ll enjoy spectacular views of Alerce Andino, Hornopirén, and Pumalín National Parks, with their fjords, mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, and rivers.
Upon landing, we’ll be welcomed by our local hosts in Rincón Bonito. We’ll settle into a cozy, self-sufficient mountain lodge with stunning views of the Ventisquero Valley. As we get comfortable, a delicious lunch will be prepared for us.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Ventisquero River circuit on a 3-hour hike through native forests and the majestic landscapes of Pumalín and Hornopirén National Parks. Our guide will share the history and natural richness of the area, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 - Round trip trekking to the Ventisquero Valley
Today we’ll set out on an out-and-back hike to the Ventisquero Valley Viewpoint. The trail follows an old muleteers’ route that leads us along the tree line and the ridge, opening up to wonderful views of distant glaciers and the vast valley below.
We continue through ancient lenga forests, which thrive in the highlands of this part of Northern Patagonia. Along the way, several viewpoints at different elevations offer spectacular vistas of the Ventisquero River’s headwaters and its confluence with the Puelo River.
We’ll stop to enjoy our boxed lunch at a quiet viewpoint before returning along the same path.
Tonight, we’ll celebrate a long and rewarding horseback ride with a traditional Patagonian lamb roast.

Day 3 - Horseback ride to the end of the Ventisquero Valley
We begin the day with a hot breakfast before setting out on a 22 km horseback ride through the Ventisquero Valley. This route, ideal for beginners, follows a gentle trail along the river, with easy walks and light trots.
Along the way, we’ll cross the Universo, Ventisquero, and Raquelita Rivers, visit old muleteers, walk to an impressive waterfall, and explore ancient alerce forests , all surrounded by majestic glaciers.
After lunch and a well-deserved rest, we’ll ride back to Rincón Bonito, where a hearty dinner, good company, and a restorative night’s sleep await us.

Day 4 - Packraft to Puerto Urrutia
Today we embark on a truly unique adventure. After breakfast and a warm farewell to our hosts at Rincón Bonito, we’ll leave our luggage with the pilcheros, the horses that will carry it to our final destination. After a short walk to the riverbank, we’ll receive a safety briefing before boarding our packrafts.
We’ll paddle down the Ventisquero River, enjoying its crystal-clear waters and the rich birdlife that accompanies us along the way. Around midday, we’ll pause for lunch on a river bend, with a picnic prepared by our guide. If weather permits, we’ll continue all the way to the charming Puelo Libre Hostal & Pizzería, in the remote town of Puerto Urrutia, where we’ll spend the night.
Once at the hostel, we’ll change into dry clothes and celebrate together as we look back on the day’s adventure. Dinner will be a special moment to share our final evening as a group, in a warm, welcoming setting with river views and the peaceful surrounding forest.

Day 5 - From Lake Tagua Tagua to Termas del Sol
We begin the day with a freshly prepared breakfast before heading out on our private transfer to Lake Tagua Tagua. After a boat crossing to Puerto Canelo, another transfer will take us to Termas del Sol, where we’ll enjoy its thermal pools and spectacular views.
There, we’ll have the chance to have lunch at the café before starting our journey back. We say farewell to this trip, taking home new friendships and unforgettable memories.
