Every April 15th, Chile celebrates the International Day of Chilean Cuisine, a moment to honor the flavors, traditions, and territories that shape the country’s culinary identity. This year, the celebration holds special meaning in Puerto Natales, a city that continues to establish itself as an emerging culinary destination on the global stage.

Located at the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park, Puerto Natales is known not only for its breathtaking landscapes, but also for a gastronomic scene deeply rooted in its history, culture, and local traditions. Its designation as Chile’s Culinary Capital by the “World Food Travel Association” marked a turning point in how Chilean Patagonia is positioned internationally.

As part of this celebration, Puerto Natales will host a key international gathering aimed at promoting gastronomic tourism from the southernmost tip of Chile to the world. On April 28th and 29th, the city will welcome the “International Innovation and Gastronomic Tourism Event,” bringing together leading voices from across the industry, from local chefs and producers to global experts, highlighting Patagonian cuisine as a driver of sustainable development.

  • Traditional Flavors

For those eager to experience authentic Patagonian cuisine, Mesita Grande is a local favorite known for its pizzas and handmade pastas, while La Guanaca offers another great option for pizza lovers, with a diverse menu that reflects local identity.

For a more refined dining experience, Lenga Restaurant delivers a high-end culinary proposal, standing out for its quality, presentation, and use of modern techniques. Santolla, on the other hand, specializes in seafood, showcasing dishes crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

  • For Meat Lovers

If you’re in search of an outstanding meat experience, Asador Patagónico is a must—known for its premium cuts and precise cooking techniques that consistently meet the highest expectations. Similarly, La Tapera stands out for its elevated barbecue concept, where rich, bold flavors are paired with a thoughtful and elegant approach.

  • Evening Spots

If you’re looking for a place to unwind in the evening, enjoy a beer, and share stories from the day’s adventures, Baguales BrewPub is a must-visit—a lively bar that serves Puerto Natales’ first draft beer. El Puesto, on the other hand, offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for experiencing the local nightlife.

  • Coffee and Sweet Treats

Coffee lovers shouldn’t miss Holasté!, the only Chilean café featured in the prestigious “The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops” ranking. Here, you’ll find a carefully curated selection of specialty coffees alongside both sweet and savory options.

Patagonia Dulce is another highlight, a chocolatier known for its high-quality pastries and wide variety of treats. And for a sweet experience rooted in local flavors, Aluén Gelatería is a must-stop, its artisanal ice creams showcase regional ingredients such as calafate and rhubarb, offering a truly unique taste of Patagonia.
