Day 1

Scenic Charter Flight to Rincón Bonito – Circuit Hike of the Ventisquero River

  • 40 Minute Private Transfer
  • 45 Minute Private Flight
  • 3 Hour Hike,  7 km / 4.3 mi
  • Night in Rincón Bonito Casa de Montaña (L-D)

In the morning, around 9AM – your private transfer will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Puerto Varas. By 10AM, you’ll arrive at the Paloma Aerodrome Hangar to begin preparation for the private charter flight to Rincón Bonito. We’ll meet our pilot, Jorge Montero, an experienced pilot with more than 110 flights to Rincón Bonito and hundreds of flights to Llanada Grande. Our plane will be a Bimotor Islander plane for 9 passengers (1,650 lbs. or 750 kg).

As we take flight, we’ll admire the surroundings below as we slowly approach the Alerce Andino, Hornopirén, and Pumalín National Parks which offer jaw-dropping, impressive views of fjords, mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, mountain lagoons, rivers and forests below us.

Upon our landing in Rincón Bonito, we will be warmly greeted by Verónica Cuevas & Juan Cortes – a young couple of locals who work with the Rincón Bonito project. Juan & Veronica will be our hosts during our stay to assist with any needs while we stay in our cozy secluded casa de montaña (mountain home) for the next 3 nights.

A delicious lunch will be prepared for us upon our arrival as we settle in to our quaint and quiet accommodation – a private, self-sufficient lodge style home with private & shared rooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and breathtaking views of the Ventisquero Valley and its surrounding landscapes.

Following our lunch, we’ll enjoy a gentle 3-hour circuit hike of the Ventisquero River which offers beautiful views of the mountains and forests of the Pumalín and Hornopirén National Parks. This trail cuts through the lush forest filled with native species and an abundance of local history. Our guide will tell us of the importance of this precious and pristine place, as we prepare for a more challenging hike the following day.

Once we are back to the mountain house, we’ll enjoy an exquisite dinner as we watch the sun set behind the valley and tuck in for a good night’s rest in preparation for tomorrow.

Day 2

Round Trip Trek to the Ventisquero Valley

  • 6 Hour Hike, 10 km / 6.2 mi
  • Night in Rincón Bonito Casa de Montaña (B-BL-BBQ)

We awake early in the morning for a delicious and nourishing breakfast before we head out on today’s round-trip hike to the Valley Ventisquero Lookout. The trail follows an old path of muleteers that will take us along the tree lines and ridge which opens to wonderful views of the distant glaciers and immense valley. We continue through ancient forests of Lenga, which grow in the high parts of the mountain range in this area of Northern Patagonia. The path has several viewpoints at different heights which offers spectualar views from the birth of the Ventisquero River to the west, and the confluence of the Puelo River to the east. If we are lucky, we can see the condor’s flight soaring above us as we admire their elegance.

We’ll stop to enjoy our box lunch at a quiet lookout point before returning back along the same path.

Tonight we celebrate a long and rewarding ride with a traditional Patagonian lamb asado (BBQ) prepared just for us to share together.

Amazing trip! We joined the Torres Del Paine 7 day O trek tour - note that this tour is not a complete O Trek but skipping the part from Camp Frances to Las Torres, which worked in our favour as our holiday is limited and we won’t miss much. Our guide, Debbie was knowledgeable and amicable, and very passionate about hiking. Unfortunately I fell sick during the hike and wished to leave a day earlier than planned. Debbie and Chile Nativo quickly rearranged transportation for us and was very helpful. Throughout the whole process Chile Nativo was very responsive. We had a memorable journey and I would highly recommend Chile Nativo.

Fantastic experience! We were booked with Chile Nativo via Swoop and had a wonderful experience. Our guides, Tim & Lucile, were awesome. We really enjoyed their company. They were very knowledgeable about the region (the history, animals, landscape, etc). Highly recommend.

I booked the independent, self-guided Torres Del Paine trek with Chile Nativo’s help and was so glad I did. When I looked to book on my own, everything was all reserved in Torres Del Paine and Chile Nativo was the only agency that could help me find a spot still. To still be able to go on the trip when I wanted to go, to not have to spend so much time planning all the logistics, to get a local’s recommendations on the best way to do the trek…but STILL get to do the trek on my own was amazing and worth every penny. In particular Paolina at the agency was incredibly helpful. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking to hike in Torres del Paine.

Hiking in Torres with Pepa is like walking with your smartest and wisest friend. She has an incredible depth of knowledge in everything from mycology to government, from geology to history. She is fiercely passionate about conservation and our planet and has dedicated her life to making our world a better place. Our two porters Filipe and Bastian were both incredibly strong and highly professional. Always in the know on where to set up the tent, they picked the best spot in every site we were at. Also, they were an absolute blast to hang out with after the long days hiking. I cannot recommend this particular team highly enough and if you are passionate about the environment, making the world a better place, learning everything there is to know about glaciers, mushrooms, Patagonia, the history of Chile, magma intrusions and edible berries request them by name. Thank you to all three of you for making our experience so special and I hope our paths cross again.
