This Biosphere Reserve was established through a donation of over 93,900 acres by the Yendegaia Foundation, led by Douglas and Kristine Tompkins, along with an additional 274,287 acres incorporated by the Chilean government. Framed by the Darwin Range and Lake Fagnano, the park offers pristine landscapes and remarkable beauty at the edge of the world.

These penguins are remarkably relaxed around humans and provide endless entertainment as they sway, waddle and preen their way around the rookery.
