We will pass through estancias and pampas, and you will be delighted with the landscapes, flora, and fauna that are characteristic of Patagonia. Be sure to have your camera ready! Once you reach the viewpoint at 900 meters (2,953 ft.) above sea level, you can rest, take photos, and have lunch. Our descent will be along the same trail, taking us back to the refuge where we will have dinner and you can rest for the next day.

Along the way, we will pass by Laguna Inge and may spot condors and other birds of prey circling overhead as we walk below. Today, we will embark on a challenging hike into the heart of the Paine Massif. After breakfast, a winding trail awaits us, leading to the Francés River. At the entrance to the Francés Valley, we will climb over massive rocks and get our first glimpse of the hanging glacier at the top of the valley.

From this point, we will ascend for about an hour through a dreamy Japanese garden-like landscape before reaching La Plateau viewpoint in the Francés Valley. At the top of the valley, Cerro Catedral and Cerro Fortaleza rise like towering fortresses over the landscape. We will take some time to enjoy lunch at the viewpoint before beginning our return journey.

We will start the morning by hiking up the winding trail that leads to Laguna Negra. From there, we will witness sections of the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field, a geological phenomenon that still hides unexplored peaks.

We will then continue to the Grey Glacier viewpoint, where we will stop for lunch and take in the breathtaking sight of the ice. If we’re lucky, we may even see chunks of ice calving from its massive walls.

Today, there is an option to take a 2.5-hour kayaking excursion (advance reservation required—please contact our travel specialists).

After lunch, we will set sail across Grey Lake to the massive façade of Grey Glacier. We will take time to observe the textures, lines, and colors of the ice wall and, of course, watch for ice calving.

On your return journey, you will see the “ice mushrooms” sculpted by the wind atop the towering peaks of Paine Grande as we navigate past blue-hued icebergs.

Back on solid ground, we will take a 20-minute walk along Grey Beach to meet our transfer, which will take us back to Puerto Natales, where our journey comes to an end.

Incredible experience completing the 5-day W trek with Chile Nativo

Our guides, Camilo and Valentina, were exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and fun, making the entire experience truly memorable. I cannot recommend this tour enough for those interested in exploring Patagonia and Torres del Paine. The views were outstanding, and our guides made us feel safe while also making necessary adjustments based on the group’s physical condition and dietary restrictions.

From the moment we reached out to inquire about the tour, the company was very responsive, answering all our questions and ensuring we felt comfortable with the experience. Thank you for everything!

A trip that surpassed our expectations

The itinerary was well-planned, and they were able to adjust the activities to our needs. The office responded quickly to all requests, and our guide, Nicholas, was knowledgeable, respectful, and fun. He provided us with a daily overview and set a pace that worked for our group. Additionally, he has extensive knowledge of the region and proved to be an excellent communicator—always professional, respectful, and entertaining. It was clear that he was a leader among the guides on the trail.

Our experience with the entire office staff was excellent. I requested many changes, and the office accommodated all of them quickly. Chile Nativo delivered the promised services and handled numerous requested adjustments with ease. Our expectations were met—and even exceeded.

Everything was very well managed from the moment I emailed Chile Nativo until the end of the tour. I’m very happy I chose them and will definitely recommend them to anyone I know going to Chile or the Patagonia region.

Guides Armando and Jaime spoke good English, both were humble and very informative. On their part, Marina Petrozzino and Isidora Cruz were also very helpful from the start, answering all my questions.

A trip that exceeded all my expectations

What an incredible trip! A fellow traveler recommended Chile Nativo, and I’m so glad they did. It was great to have every detail planned so that we could fully enjoy the trip. The guides were amazing, these guys really know what they’re doing. Their knowledge of the flora and fauna, the ease of checking in, leaving the refuges, and their great personalities made our group the best.

We started as 10 strangers and ended the trip as friends. I especially loved Nico; my daughter hurt her knee, and he was particularly helpful with her. It was so wonderful that I can’t wait to use their services again and come back!
