From here we begin with an ascent along ranch trails following the hillside with spectacular views . After about two hours of pedaling, we arrive to a large fertile plain located in the heart of Ultima Esperanza. Here we will start to climb with a steeper cross country slope. Q: What physical & technical level is this ride?
A: If you feel comfortable and can agree to the following – then this ride is just right for you! You exercise regularly, on average 4 hours per week. You feel comfortable with sustained pedaling at a relaxed pace for 2-4 hours a day. You can pedal 2 or 3 days in a row for no more than 3 hours a day. You can tolerate pedaling 1 or more climbs of up to 300 meters of elevation gain (660 feet). You tolerate short sections where you have to push and / or walk uphill on the bike. Your exercise regimen includes a combination of resistance training like biking and strength training. At a controlled speed, you feel at ease walking on smooth one-lane trails that may include nearby trees, mud, loose rocks, and sand. You feel comfortable and safe rolling on small obstacles (10 cm) such as roots, rocks and small cuts on the trail. If you’ve been to a bike park, you feel comfortable on all green trails and blue trails. You roll over obstacles easily, though you keep both wheels on the ground. You are confident and successful in executing the following basic bike riding skills on smooth single lane trails:
– Gear Shift: You anticipate the terrain and change gears accordingly.
– Descending: You feel comfortable and balanced when you get up from the seat and you can keep the pedals level throughout the descent.
– Speed control and braking: You use momentum to climb undulating terrain and feel comfortable using the front and rear brakes when necessary. You know when to walk a section that might be too difficult.
