Día 1

Public Bus to Torres Del Paine - Shuttle to Las Torres - Round Trip Self Guided Hike to Towers Lookout

2 horas en bus público

30 minutes by shuttle

8-9 hours round-trip, 22km

Night at Camping or Refugio Las Torres, Optional Upgrade to Hotel Las Torres(BL-D)

By 6:45AM you must be at the Bus Terminal in Puerto Natales where you will board the 7AM public bus which will take you straight to Torres del Paine National Park. The route passes estancias (ranches) and pampas, and possibly even ñandus (Patagonian ostrich). At Laguna Amarga, the main entrance to the Park, you’ll collect your the park pass which is included in your program, and board a shuttle bound for your Refugio. Here, you’ll leave your backpack and take your packed lunch (provided during your trek briefing in Puerto Natales held day prior). Now you´re ready to begin the W Trek’s first highlight: the hike to the Towers lookout! This challenging trek ascends along the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley. Take a moment to stop and observe the first glimpses of this gorgeous valley, complete with beech forests, glaciers and waterfalls. Continue uphill through the lush beech forest before beginning your ascent of the gigantic terminal moraine, 900 meters above sea level. At the top, you’ll be rewarded by the remarkable sight of the three Towers themselves. Rest a while, take photos and have lunch. Once you´re ready - your descent is along the same path, taking you back to the Refugio where dinner will be served and where you will rest your first night.

The well-marked trail ascends 200 meters from the base of Almirante Nieto Mountain (2750 m) and crosses the Bader River to today’s destination, Refugio Los Cuernos or Domes Frances (depending on availability). Here, enjoy a good meal and settle in for the night.

Día 3

Self Guided Trek of the Dramatic French Valley - Hike to Pehoe Lake

8-9 hour hiking, 18 km

Noche en camping o refugio Paine Grande (D-BL-C)

Today’s hike is a challenging trek to heart of the Paine massif. The French Valley is a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers. After breakfast, request your packed lunch and set off on a 2-hour hike through a winding path to the French River (one hour if your accommodation was at the French Domes). At the entrance to the French Valley - a glacial moraine - you’ll scramble over huge boulders and catch the first sight of the hanging glacier atop the valley. From this point, you’ll ascend for an hour through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the French Valley viewpoint (the “Plateau”). Your reward is a heart-stirring bird’s eye view of granite peaks and hanging glaciers. To one side, the French Glacier and Paine Grande (3050 m); while to the other, La Espada, La Hoja, La Máscara and the main and north “horns” of Los Cuernos arch upwards. In the upper section of the Valley, Cerro Catedral and Cerro Fortaleza loom like turrets above the landscape. Take your time to have lunch at the viewpoint, surrounded by these imposing peaks and open skies. If time and energy levels allow, you can continue hiking for an additional hour through the Valley to the British Camp for yet another spectacular cirque (amphitheater-like formation) of mountains. You’ll descend via the same path until you reach the valley’s entrance, at which point you’ll continue around the south-west side of Paine Grande, Torres del Paine’s highest peak. This final leg passes through native firebush and evergreen beech forests to the shores of Pehoe Lake. Dinner will be served at Refugio Paine Grande.

Día 4

Round Trip Self Guided Trek to Grey Glacier - Catamaran Across Lake Pehor - Public Shuttle to Puerto Natales

8 hours hiking, 22 km

35 minutos en Catamaran

3 horas en Bus Público (D-BL)

Set out early after breakfast, ascending 200 meters through the narrow winding path to Laguna Los Patos. Here, you’ll see sections of the massive Southern Patagonian Ice Field, a geological phenomenon that still hides many unclimbed mountains. From here you’ll continue to Grey Glacier’s lookout point, passing forests and rivers, with possible sightings of the spectacled and flightless steamer ducks that call them home. Enjooy your packed lunch with the mammoth Grey Glacier at your feet. You’ll later walk back along the same path to Paine Grande to catch the last catamaran across Pehoe Lake (check catamaran and walking times with Refugio staff in the morning to ensure you arrive in time). While hiking, take in views of Paine Grande and the powerful, almost muscular granite walls of Cordon Olguín. At the other side of Pehoe Lake, a public bus will be waiting to take you to Puerto Natales. Because you will arrive in town around 22:00hrs (10:00PM) you should consider spending the night in Puerto Natales.

FAQ's

R: Yes! Each day you will have the opportunity to fill up your reusable water bottle prior to departing the refugios. The first day you will have the opportunity to fill your water bottle at Refugio Chileno in route to the base of the towers. On day 2, be sure to fill up your water bottle prior to leaving for Los Cuernos as there are no other refugios along the way. On the third day´s hike of the French Valley, be sure to have plenty of water ready for your trek of the French Valley and can also re-fill at Frances in route along the way. Day 4 you can fill up at Refugio Paine Grande before setting out for your round-trip trek to Refugio Grey and back. Only drink from natural water sources that you know are safe.

P: ¿A qué hora terminaré mi caminata el último día y llegaré de regreso a Puerto Natales?
R: After hiking round-trip from Refugio Paine Grande on the last day of your program, you will take the 35 minute catamaran across Lake Pehoe a Pudeto where you will then connect on the public bus which will bring you back to Puerto Natales (bus terminal). Trekkers who take the last catamaran and bus from the park will arrive back to Puerto Natales around 22:00hrs. If you wish to upgrade to the Grey Glacier Navigation which leaves directly from Refugio Grey, you may reserve this in advance. Upon completing the Grey III Navigation – which is a highlight experience in Torres Del Paine – a private transfer awaits you to bring you back to Puerto Natales, arriving around 18:00hrs.

P: ¿Puedo hacer la ruta al revés, de oeste a este?
R: ¡Absolutamente! Podemos organizar la ruta de oeste a este para usted si así lo desea y en función de la disponibilidad en los refugios para las respectivas noches necesarias.

Chile Nativo is a fantastic company that makes such a strenuous hike doable in a few days with all details taken care of. Had I not had food and gear ready for me after so much hiking, it would have been more difficult to fully appreciate the experience of being in blissful nature.

Independent W Trek, Olivia B., USA

Really enjoyed the briefing, as they knew exactly our itinerary, food restrictions, very knowledgeable about the route and with clear guidance. On top of that speaking good and clear English. All arrangements worked out exactly as expected, which is always nice. Good experience, thanks to you all!

Adriaan, Netherlands

The W Trek was outstanding and we found the whole trip much easier with all the guidance and recommendations from Chile Nativo. We loved the care and attention to details from the quick response to our e-mails to the briefing before our trek start. We’ll recommend your services to friends for sure. Thanks guys! 🙂

Juliano A., Brazil

We loved our self-guided trip through Torres del Paine. All of the arrangements were easy to follow and everything went smoothly. When there was a problem with the Grey Navigation, the Chile Nativo team were helpful and gave us good advice on how to proceed. Daniela was our main point of contact for the reservation and leading up to the trek. She was helpful and answered all our questions quickly.

I am very happy with the service Chile Nativo provided. First of all, the experience during the trip itself was... amazing, the accommodation was more than I could ask for, the snack was delicious and our guide was not only very friendly but also extremely intelligent - he could answer all kind of questions we threw him about the park, animals, and geography! But the best part of Chile Nativo came up when a crisis hit. I got on the wrong bus the day before the tour started which prevented me from getting to the tour in time as a result. Daniella and Johana from the team were incredibly resourceful and kind to help me out of this situation. They worked after hours to help me find a private car that was willing to drive me from El Calafate to Puerto Natales in Chile. Johana even came to the office early morning to greet me and attend to me. I was beyond grateful for their professional service that really goes the extra mile in making sure I get to make to my trip and enjoy it thoroughly. Highly recommend Chille Nativo to everyone visiting Patagonia!read more

Working with Chile Nativo was a very positive experience. They were able to accommodate our dates with no issues,... despite the dates being offset from their usual schedule. Everyone we worked with was communicative and helpful, and we felt well prepared given the information (e.g. packing list) they provided. The most important benefit of traveling with Chile Nativo was our access to one of their guides, Fernando.I cannot give enough positive feedback for Fernando. While everything you'd expect from a good guide was present, Fernando delivers so far above and beyond what's expected. Any question we had about a tree, for example, Fernando could answer, and then provide several layers more detail and information. I’ve never been hugely into geology, but Fernando’s knowledge of the rock formations in the park added a fascinating element to our hike; everything around us became even more interesting. By the afternoon of the first day, it felt as though we were hiking with a good friend who happened to know everything about the park. We were genuinely sad to leave once the trip was complete. The entire time, I felt that we were getting the very most out of our hike, and that Fernando knew the tips and tricks to avoiding crowds and getting the best views. A huge plus is his photography skills, too! Fernando was recommended to us by a friend, and we’ve been insistent to all our friends who’ve asked about our trip that they should also use Chile Nativo and ask for Fernando.read more

I did the Fjord Trail with Chile Nativo and it was beautiful! The landscapes surpass what you can even imagine. We were... the only ones in nature for 3 days! The horses were nice, I had never done this before and I felt safe. I was never cold at night (make sure you rent your sleeping bag for this). We finished our tour with a boat trip on the Serrano River, back to Puerto Natales and we got to see the Balmacero Glacier and the Serrano Glacier (and walk around it). It is well organized and definitely a different way to travel and see nature in Patagonia !read more

Aside from the beautiful trip, we learned so much because of Chile Nativo Travel and our two guides. I can't recommend this company enough! The initial planning and email correspondence leading up to our trip was... professional and seamless. They even took care of adding on and planning an additional leg to our trip to Argentinean Patagonia with a reliable local company there. Most importantly though, our Fast Trek W trip with Chile Nativo was everything we hoped it would be and more. Our guides, Baru and Nacio, were THE BEST. I was sad to leave them at the end of our 3 days together. They were responsible, knowledgeable, kind and so much fun - and they kept us going when spirits might have been a little down after 2 straight days of pouring rain and relentless wind. :) The camp is fantastic - the domes were super comfortable and the dining hall dome was a great meeting place to eat (and stretch and drink wine and pisco and even dance!). The drivers were great, the chefs were impressive (thanks Alexis!! - the food was an unexpected treat because it was seriously good, not just camping good). We somehow also managed to get extra lucky and click with the rest of the people in our group and are already planning our next trip together, so thanks for that added bonus! It was a magical trip that we will never forget. Thanks Chile Nativo! ❤️read more

We had a once in a lifetime experience with Chile Nativo and Felipe which we will never forget. We enjoyed the 5D/4N... Torres del Paine Winter Multisport Adventure in early September. It was fantastic to be there in the “fringe” season, the weather was beautiful and we felt like we had the place to ourselves! We were very fortunate to have Felipe all to ourselves as well, giving us flexibility around our capabilities and the weather. Felipe was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the fauna, flora and even the geology (which impressed me as I’m a geologist!!). Felipe’s English is perfect, his cooking was delicious, and we felt very much at home during our trip. Our kayaking was cancelled due to very extreme weather, and Felipe not only found an alternative for the day for us, but also arranged for a generous refund. There was an issue with our international bank payment (through no fault of Chile Nativo’s) and the entire team continued to communicate with us and chase the payment at their end for weeks. We really appreciated this!Cannot recommend Chile Nativo, Felipe and Torres del Paine enough!read more
