An unforgettable tour
Chilean Patagonia is famous for its unpredictable weather and the possibility of experiencing all four seasons in a single day. Therefore, it’s important to be prepared for anything. Winter weather is dry and cold, with temperatures ranging from -10º C to 10º C. Weather conditions are more stable between May and October. Since the trails may be covered with snow or ice, hikers are strongly recommended to bring the appropriate gear for these conditions.

Your private transfer will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Natales and take you to the start of our hike to the base of the Three Towers. Today we’ll venture deep into the heart of the Paine Massif to discover the stunning French Valley, a natural basin surrounded by sharp granite spires, hanging glaciers, and pristine wilderness.
After a hearty breakfast, we begin our hike with a 2-hour walk through lenga forests and notro shrubs, until we reach the hanging bridge over the French River.
At the entrance of the valley, we’ll climb over large boulders to catch our first glimpse of the hanging glacier high above. From there, we continue ascending for about an hour through a dreamlike landscape, like a Japanese garden, until we reach La Plateau Viewpoint.
Surrounded by towering peaks and wide-open skies, we’ll enjoy lunch in this breathtaking natural amphitheater before heading back to our mountain lodge to rest.

We then continue toward the Grey Glacier Viewpoint, crossing forests and rivers, with chances to spot steamer ducks in their natural habitat. We’ll stop for lunch facing the glacier’s monumental ice wall — and with a bit of luck, witness ice calving into the cold waters below.
We’ll continue hiking to Refugio Grey, where we’ll spend this evening.

Before lunch, we board a boat for a scenic cruise across Grey Lake toward the impressive face of the glacier. We’ll have time to admire its textures, lines, and blue hues. On the way back, we’ll see the famous “ice mushrooms” shaped by the wind atop the Paine Grande peaks, as we navigate among icebergs of all sizes.
Back on solid ground, we’ll walk about 20 minutes along Grey Beach to meet our transfer, which will take us back to Puerto Natales, where our adventure concludes.

Our traveler’s experiences

The challenges became part of the fun
It was a wonderful and surprising experience with a great group of people: hikers and guides. The fact that it was at the end of winter meant that we practically had the trails and sites all to ourselves. One thing in particular is worth mentioning. When issues arose with hikers, such as being unable to keep up with the main group, muscle strains, aches, and discomforts, the guides handled the problems impeccably and very expertly with joy and ease, never making anything into a ‘big’ problem; they almost made it seem like just another fun thing to do. Maybe it was their personality or professionalism, but they were masterfully accommodating to everyone without unduly affecting (in spirit or work) the other members of the group

A team that turned crises into solutions
I am very happy with the service provided by Chile Nativo. First of all, the experience during the trip itself was amazing, the accommodation was more than I could have asked for, the snacks were delicious, and our guide was not only very kind but also extremely knowledgeable—he could answer all sorts of questions we asked about the park, the animals, and the geography! But the best part of Chile Nativo came when a crisis occurred. I got on the wrong bus the day before the tour started, which prevented me from arriving on time. Daniella and Johana from the team were incredibly resourceful and kind in helping me get out of this situation. They worked outside of office hours to help me find a private car willing to take me from El Calafate to Puerto Natales in Chile. Johana even came to the office early in the morning to greet and assist me. I was more than grateful for their professional service, which truly went the extra mile to ensure I could make it to my trip and enjoy it to the fullest. I highly recommend Chile Nativo to anyone visiting Patagonia
