Experience Torres del Paine

To undertake this journey, it is important to be in good physical condition and keep in mind that although each member of the group will walk according to their ability, the guide will set a pace based on the distance and available daylight hours.

Day 1 Bus from Natales – Laguna Amarga + Shuttle to Central Sector – Las Torres / Torres Base / Camp Torres

At 6:45 AM, we will depart from the Puerto Natales Bus Terminal directly to Torres del Paine National Park. Upon arriving at Laguna Amarga, the main entrance to the park, you will present your park entry QR code, which is included in your program. Then, you will board a shuttle heading to your refuge (Las Torres Sector).

Here, you will leave your backpack at your accommodation and have lunch before embarking on the first highlight of the Big Circuit Trek: the hike to the Torres viewpoint. At the top, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking view of the Towers. At this viewpoint, 900 meters (2953 feet) above sea level, the three granite towers dramatically rise from the rocky landscape, while a bluish-green lagoon at their base provides a serene contrast. After resting and enjoying the spot, we will begin our descent back to Las Torres. Once we arrive, we will have dinner and spend the first night.

Today’s hike is 9 km (5.6 miles), the easiest part of the circuit, and takes you along a well-marked trail with a gentle incline. Along the way, you’ll be accompanied by an exceptional view of Cerro Paine Chico.

Depending on the season, on the third day, we will be able to observe the floral beauty of the park, such as orchids, calceolarias, violets, and oxalis in bloom. Surrounding Lake Paine, we will encounter several breathtaking mountain views, such as Mount Escudo and Mount Cabeza del Indio (where the profile of an indigenous person is seen carved into the rocks). Additionally, we will have the opportunity to see the curved summit of Mount Cubo, as well as Lake Dickson (one of the boundary glaciers between Argentina and Chile).

Today is a day to please the senses, filled with beautiful views and textures. We will walk through ancient beech forests, travel along winding paths, and follow the Los Perros River. Mountains, waterfalls, and lush vegetation will always be nearby as our trail crosses the river via a hanging bridge, reaching the base of our second terminal moraine. A final half-hour walk will take us to today’s destination, the Los Perros Campsite.

Day 5 - From Los Perros to Grey passing through the famous John Garner pass.

This is the most exhausting day of the Paine Circuit, with demanding trails and varying weather conditions. Of course, your effort will be more than rewarded with some of the most breathtaking landscapes of Torres del Paine, experienced by very few visitors to Torres del Paine. We will ascend to the John Garner Pass at 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) above sea level. The famous Patagonian winds are strong, and the views of Grey Glacier and the still unexplored peaks of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field are stunning.

The trail now takes us along the glacier, ascending and descending through forests of fallen trees and beneath the towering, almost muscular granite walls of the Olguín Cordillera. As we approach Grey Glacier, we may witness an icefall o calving (where chunks of ice break off from the edge of a glacier).

Day 6 - From Grey to Paine Grande: Activities of your choice

On this second-to-last day, you can choose from various activities. We will walk to the Grey Glacier viewpoint to observe calving from the massive walls; you can complement this with a walk on the ice using crampons; or kayak on Grey Lake, paddling around the icebergs and in front of the glacier. Later, we will have lunch at the refuge and take a walk to Lake Pehoe. (The ice hike and kayak expedition have an additional cost; advance reservation is required; please contact our travel specialists).

Day 7 - Hike to Francés Valley and transfer to Puerto Natales

We end this journey with the Francés Valley, a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers. This is a round-trip hike, which we will begin by walking around Paine Grande. At the suspension bridge over the Francés River, you can see the impressive hanging glacier that overlooks the valley. From here, we will walk for another hour to the viewpoint (the “mesa”), where we will have lunch surrounded by these imposing peaks and open skies. Our return hike is along the same path, and the catamaran will take us back across Lake Pehoé to meet our transfer that will take us safely back to Puerto Natales.

Camilo is a legend. Chile Nativo has extensive experience and knowledge. I highly recommend booking directly through them. We were a group of 8 people who did the 7-day trek, and everything was fantastic. Thanks to Camilo, Tomás, and all our porters!

Wind, mountains and friendship

We really enjoyed our trip. The fact that there were very few visitors in the park made the experience even more special. The tents provided by Chile Nativo were of great quality, which we truly appreciated, especially on the nights when the wind was strong. Our porters always made sure everything was set up upon our arrival and packed up after we left.

We really enjoyed their company. Much respect to them for the work they did! Camilo was, without a doubt, the best guide we have hiked with in recent years. We feel privileged to have had the opportunity to trek through Torres del Paine with him. Besides being an incredible guide, he is a great person in every way. He genuinely cares about his team, the guests, and the porters alike, and even takes the time to help people on the trail when they need assistance.

His love for Torres del Paine, the mountains, and nature, in general, is very evident and adds an extra dimension to the trek. It means that he has extensive knowledge on a wide range of topics, not because he has to study them as a guide, but because he is genuinely interested in them and passionate about talking about them.

Camilo has friends everywhere and seems to know everyone. After spending a few days with him, it’s obvious that he is a trustworthy and remarkable person—and on top of that, he did an amazing job as a cook!

I would also like to thank Johana and Camilo for noticing that Saskia would be celebrating her birthday during the trip and for making sure to prepare a surprise to make the day even more special.

If we ever have the chance to return to Puerto Natales in the future, it would be to do another trek with Camilo.

Paine Grande Circuit

Unforgettable trip and support every step of the way

I want to thank everyone for helping me achieve my lifelong dream of exploring the most beautiful place in the world. I especially want to thank Camilo for being an outstanding guide. He exceeded all our expectations throughout our experience.

It’s clear that he has extensive knowledge and experience when it comes to Patagonia. He was patient and made me feel comfortable and safe on the trail, which meant a lot since I’m not as fast as usual at five months pregnant.

He shared quick and fun anecdotes about the surrounding areas—pointing out mountain peaks, identifying birds and trees, and explaining the history of the region—which we absolutely loved. He was attentive and proactive about any discomfort we had (seven days of hiking without intense training led to some aches and pains), and he had packed plenty of first-aid supplies that helped.

He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable at camp, preparing snacks before dinner and ensuring we knew where and when we needed to be. He was truly a “rock star” guide!

Natural, organized, and native. Our guide Camilo was fantastic—his passion for the park and the people of the region was evident. He was able to easily switch between English, French, and Spanish. He spoke with sincerity and from the heart, and he was also a great cook. The little details, like the extra coffee and mustard, were spectacular.

I loved every minute!

It exceeded my expectations! The food was delicious and plentiful, the scenery was spectacular, and the hike itself was both challenging and rewarding. I loved the way it was structured: doing miles without the backpack on day 1, a short distance with the backpack on day 2, then a longer day on day 3 and an easier day on day 4, ready to prepare for the pass. I loved every minute of it!

Chile Nativo’s service from the booking to the final drop-off was fantastic! It was truly worth it. We were a small group of 6 hikers, and you provided excellent tents and equipment. Our guide, Armando, was very knowledgeable and had a lot of experience in the park. With 20 years of guiding experience, he remained very professional and dedicated to our group, clearly passionate about the area. It is an incredibly beautiful place! I would definitely recommend Chile Nativo to anyone looking for an authentic and high-quality trekking experience in Torres del Paine.
